A local church is celebrating a big birthday.
The Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church has been here for 200 years.
Hundreds gathered to celebrate, including former pastors of the church.
Pastor Troutman came here in 1953 fresh out of seminary school Hhe says he saw parents he baptized.
Troutman says in the past 50 years, the building has changed some and the congregation is more educated, but it's still the same faces.
"It was one of the most peaceful places I had seen in a long time of course a lot of places were peaceful then it was a farming area very loyal that's changed considerably over the years," Pastor Bernard Troutman says.
The church received a historical marker earlier in the year. The current church was built in 1929.
