Harrisonburg Police are still looking for a suspect who robbed the SunTrust Bank on South Main Street at the intersection of Port Republic Road Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money, but a weapon was never displayed.

Police say a man walked in to the bank around 4:35 p.m. with a package and told employees it contained an explosive, which he could detonate with a cell phone.

"There was something to the effect of using that as a deterrent to calling the police or some sort of threat, I can detonate this from a remote location," says Virginia State Police 1st Sgt. Bryan Hutcheson.

The suspect is described as a while male, between 40 to 50 years old and had white or gray hair.

K-9 units were brought in to check for explosives and all employees of the bank were evacuated. No one was injured.

An officer with the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad investigated the package by first taking an x-ray.

"The way it was packaged, it made him uncomfortable about opening it," says Hutcheson. "It looked like with the weight, he touched it, and the weight of it and everything, it just felt like it was possibly something."

Police eventually detonated the package and found it was not a bomb.

HPD ask for the public's help. If you have any information about this robbery, please call the anonymous tip line at 540-574-5050.

When did Christmas presents become a necessity? Parent's shouldn't feel obligated to cover wants in time of need. My parents taught me to be thankful for what they could provide me; primarily needs and few wants. If you feel you need to rob or steal maybe you should sit down and explain to your children that times are hard, they'll understand.
