Deputies in Shenandoah County are investigating crimes against a couple of stores where the thieves were after something large.

In the first case, thieves stole a soda machine from This and That Country Store in Quicksburg Saturday. The machine is worth $3,000, plus any cash and merchandise it contained.

On the same day, deputies say thieves tried to drag an ATM from the Community Store in Basye. They got it as far as the parking lot, then left it. However, they shattered the glass door to the store get inside.

Deputies are investigating both cases to see if they are related.

Deputies in Augusta County report that someone stole credit cards and debit cards from a vehicle in Churchville Monday and then went to several businesses along Frontier Drive in Staunton to withdraw cash from ATMs. In total, more than $2,000 was withdrawn.

The trend of thefts from unlocked vehicles continues in the Valley. In Harrisonburg, someone stole a gun and electronic equipment from an unlocked car on Old Richmond Circle Wednesday.

Staunton Police say someone took a tool set, a CD player and an amplifier from a car on Earl Street Monday. That car was also unlocked.

In Page County, a truck that was left unlocked got stolen. The Luray Police Department says the truck was taken from the First Street Apartments the day before Thanksgiving. The truck was later found after it had been crashed and abandoned.

State Police are looking for a stolen dirt bike. The green 2004 Kawasaki KX125 was taken from Lee Highway in Mount Crawford Saturday night.

If you have any information that could help with these investigations, call your local police department or sheriff's office.
