People in the Valley braced Tuesday night for a variety of weather-related issues expected to result from a storm moving through the area.

While some areas are expected to see freezing rain and snow, others are expected to deal with heavy rain.

In Waynesboro, the rain was already causing problems for people early Tuesday evening.

By 7 p.m., at the Brandon Ladd Apartments, water was already pooling around people's cars. The area still has a decent amount of snow also left on the ground following this weekend's storm.

Arch Avenue is an area notorious for flooding. Residents say just one night of heavy rain can quickly lead to trouble for them.

"A night like tonight, we'll probably see [the water] float across the floor a little bit," says Diane Matteson, who lives on Arch Avenue. "If we know it's going to flood for sure, we start bringing stuff upstairs."

"In general, we get a good rain that water builds up over the sidewalk [out] there. You're going to get wet feet if you do get in the car. There's no way of getting around it, unless, like I said, you put a drain in," says Thomas Webb, who lives in Waynesboro.

There's a lot of uncertainty about what the storm will bring. Residents say they're just trying to brace for whatever they wake up to Wednesday morning.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
