The Surry County prosecutor says it is now
"parallel investigations" looking at suspected dogfighting at a
property owned by Michael Vick.

Gerald Poindexter was sounding a more conciliatory tone last
night, one day after he seemed to think federal investigators had
taken command of the investigation.

Poindexter says he, Sheriff Harold Brown and the rest of the
team that has been investigating the case since 66 dogs were found
on the property on April 25th still intend to meet soon to review
their evidence.

In his words, "We are just pursuing parallel investigations."

Meanwhile, Vick has canceled his youth football camp at
Christopher Newport University, citing a scheduling conflict. The
Newport News camp was scheduled to start June 30th.
