Virginia State Police say the pilot of a small plane is recovering after crashing during a flying lesson near the Great Dismal Swamp in Suffolk.
Authorities say the Sport Cruiser plane crashed at about 1:15 p.m. Monday. Power on the aircraft apparently stalled after taking off from Chesapeake, sending the plane into a downward spin. The flight instructor tried to correct the maneuver before the plane hit some trees.
Thirty-seven-year-old Eric Musial, of Virginia Beach, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with minor injuries. The instructor was not injured.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Cotten says no charges will be filed.
