Prince William County officials are considering whether a proposal to deny county services for illegal immigrants would cost too much or subject the county to lawsuits.

Republican Supervisor John Stirrup proposed the idea last week. It would require the county to check the immigration status of all residents before providing services.

He says it should cost very little to enforce and would stand up to a legal challenge.

But some members of the board say such a measure could bring trouble. Supervisor John Jenkins, a Democrat, says the proposal would violate state laws.

Welfare lines are fueled by tax money. Illegal immigrants receive welfare money. Let me inform you of how the Social Security will be impacted. Population greatly affects the "pot" that the older generation will take out when they are older. Anchor babies who become automatic citizens due to their birth from their illegal parents are now eligible for Social Security money. Many do miss the point to come to this nation but if you respect the laws of the nation you wouldn't break them. You haven't heard of the SSN scams going on across the nation? Maybe you should take a look at ice.gov and see how they do obtain money. Also if they want to progress and and achieve dreams then maybe they should adapt to the culture instead of "press 2 for Espanol". Immigrants don't only include people from Latin America countries. This implies that migrants from other countries such as China, Korea, Russia, Poland, India etc. have to learn English. What makes the Spanish speaking countries so special that they don't have to conform into a nation that is constantly giving hand outs? Perhaps you should view the past news about multiple hospitals being closed down due to illegal immigrants not being able to pay for their medical bills. Sad story, but if a nation is to remain stable, some people are going to have to take the shortest straw. If the illegal immigrants were held to a low number, those "low-paying" blue collar jobs you speak of would be forced to raise their employee wages to entice citizens to work for them which in turn would boost the economy. The American Dollar is losing value everyday due to BILLIONS of dollars being sent back to Latin America. If people want to progress and achieve from a country, they need to give back to the country that gave them their dreams.

Many miss the main point of people coming to this nation: to work, to progress, and to achieve dreams that in one's country are impossible to achieve. I came to the US ILLEGALLY, fortunately we were able to get "SO CALLED LEGAL PAPERS", that just changed my status but not my drive to become a better person. Now I'm in process of attending medical school, how can you deny education-how do you think people can progress? I'm sorry for you closed minded people who think only on themselves. Don't you notice that most of the "homeless, welfare individuals who don't work, not even for an under paid collar job, are not the immigrants hoping to WORK. At least they work selling roses or water to put food in the mouthes of their families just like you. And if someone is illegal, how can they get social security without a SSN? And trust me your tax money is certainly not being taken by illegals if you see all those welfare lines.

K in VA, you are obviously uneducated and have never been to Mexico. Mexico doesn't allow Americans to break their laws. As a matter of fact you don't act up in Mexico because the police would maintain order. These people do not bring skills to the US other than cheap labor which we have to subsidize. As a widow with 2 kids to raise and no free handouts, I resent my taxes going to pay for services illegals use. I work hard for my money, legally! These people will cost over $250 - $300 trillion in Social Security. Do you pay Social Security taxes? Well, guess who is going to get your money. Not you. BTW, any illegals in your neighborhood? I have some, the houses are in worse shape now then ever. Trash everywhere and front yards are now parking lots with multiple cars parked all over the lawn. Is this what you want? Poor illegals. Yeah right. EDUCATION is what you need, and a snap into reality.
