Shoppers Pack Grocery Stores Before Storm

A full refrigerator and pantry will help many of us make it through this snow-filled weekend.
Lines formed early at Valley grocery stores.
By 11 a.m. Thursday, parking lots were packed and people were loading up their carts with the basics.
The consistent snow certainly has brought its headaches this winter, but some people are trying to stay optimistic.
"I really like it. It's changing the routine. It helps us spend more time with family," says Carmen Schrock-Hurst, of Harrisonburg, as she shopped at local supermarket. "I have never seen this parking lot so full, ever."
"In the 60s, we had some pretty deep snows. This compares to that," says Ethel Lough, of Dayton, as she was buying some groceries. "And, I have been to several places. I went yesterday. And then we're going to hibernate."
Local grocers say their stores had large deliveries come in earlier this week, hoping demand would be high before this winter storm.

Traffic was eventful today and parking lots were nearly full. Most knew the storm was coming so with no ridicule implied I ask the question, why wait until the last minute and contribute to the chaos when it is most expected? Better yet why is it expected? My only quarrel is when simple city roads become a high traffic bumper car ride due to lack of consideration for laws and one another...
