Waynesboro City Council approved funding for preemptive devices, that will allow emergency responders to turn traffic lights, from red to green.

Council members approved $400,00 for installation of the devices at 28 intersections in the city.

They say the benefits include quicker response times for crews in the city, among other things.

Gary Critzer from Waynesboro Emergency Managment says, "The advantage number one is that improves the safety at intersections which is the number one high-risk part of a emergency response."

The project will be spread out over two years, with the city putting up a little more than half of the funds.

The rest will come from state money, already allocated for fire departments.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
