Five people, including three children, have been killed in a three-car pile-up on Interstate 68 east of Morgantown.

The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department suspects one of the drivers was intoxicated.

Seven other people involved in Sunday night's wreck were taken to local hospitals.

The names and conditions of both the injured and the dead were not immediately available.

The sheriff's department said a pickup truck collided with an eastbound car near the Pierpont Road exit at about 10:20 Sunday night. Both vehicles crossed the median and the truck collided with a sport utility vehicle in the westbound lane.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was not injured, was arrested and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence.
