The Salvation Army in Harrisonburg has had such a demand for shelter this winter, that they've rolled out extra beds.
A couple weeks ago, they opened an auxiliary shelter across the street from the emergency shelter.
The auxiliary shelter usually gets six to eight guests a night, but has room for 24.
It's where Charles Falls has stayed for the past week.
"It's great," said Falls. "You've been out there in the cold all day, and you come in here where it's nice and comfortable. I got family out here, but they have their own families, so I just go on my way and come here to the Salvation Army."
The shelter provides cots and blankets, plus use of a shower.
