SKANEATELES, N.Y. (AP) The Virginia police officer who was killed along with his girlfriend in a boat collision in central New York was enjoying the last hours of his family reunion just before he died.

The Virginia police officer who was killed along with his girlfriend in a boat collision in central New York was enjoying the last hours of his family reunion just before he died.
Relatives of John Kelly say the 32-year-old Richmond police officer had spent last Saturday playing tennis with his brothers and boating with his family on Skaneateles Lake, where his parents were hosting the annual family reunion.
He and his 26-year-old girlfriend, Heather Wilkins of Richmond, were killed early Sunday morning when their boat was struck by another boat. The Syracuse man driving the other boat has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and boating while intoxicated.
Some of Kelly's six siblings told the Syracuse Post-Standard that their brother was a gifted athlete who still played hockey and coached high school lacrosse in Virginia.
The family says Kelly was supposed to be the best man in the wedding of one of his fellow Richmond police officers this Saturday, while Wilkins was also supposed to be the maid of honor.
Wilkins managed an insurance office in Virginia.

Not only was she a long time employee with AFLAC and a very hard worker, she also had a big heart and was wise beyong her 26 years! She gave the best advice and was never affraid to tell you the what was on her mind. She was a true friend who loved her family, loved John and was excited about her future.
