A man from Elkton has been arrested on charges of having a hit list and distributing methamphetmine. Now people are speaking out.
Vern O'dell Crawford was arrested Tuesday morning, after police searched his home and another building near Elkton. They also searched "O'dell's" grocery store in Elkton.
Residents have mixed opinions about the case.
Benjamin Newell says, "I've never heard anything bad about the guy, but I've never heard anything good about him though."
Newell says he didn't shop at "O'dell's" too often.
"A lot of people that go there found food expiration dates, gone bad and what not, so I tend to stay away from that," says Newell.
One woman local woman says she knew the store to be a place where not many people visited.
She says, "You hear about him doing drugs in there, and you know, you hear about people bringing stolen items in there, you know. You don't want to shop in a place like that."
that's why she says she didn't frequent the store.
James Jackson: "And that's not the type of place you want to be associated with?"
She replies, "No! Like now, I want my face blocked out because God only knows if he's got connections and they might try to put a hit out on me. I'm not stupid."
Another resident, Mike Rankin, comments, "You hear all the negative things but you never hear about the good about somebody that's done something bad."
Rankin says he knows Crawford personally and believes he shouldn't be judged simply because he's facing charges.
He says, "He's been a good person. He's been good to a lot of people, but no one wants to say that now, you know. But I will. I'll say it, and it's always been true and it always will be true."
