A man who had an affair with a nurse accused of killing her husband says he hasn't been in contact with the woman since shortly after her husband's death.
Robert Teets was a truck driver at a business co-owned by the victim, James Michael. Michael's body was found in his home in November 2005.
Michael's wife, Michelle, is accused of giving him a lethal dose of a paralyzing drug and then setting their Morgantown home on fire in an attempt to cover up the crime.
Teets testified in Kanawha County Circuit Court Wednesday that his wife and Michelle Michael were best friends.
He says the affair began less than two weeks before the fire while he and Michelle Michael were on a business trip together in Chicago.
Michelle Michael's defense has contended that police did not properly investigate other people who had a motive to kill James, including Teets.
But Teets says on the day of the fire, he was making a delivery in Fairmont, then went to the Michael home when James Michael didn't show up for work. When Teets arrived, the home was engulfed in flames and surrounded by emergency vehicles.
