Harrisonburg Recycling Pick-Up Delay

The snow is partly to blame for a number of over-flowing recycling bins around Harrisonburg.

A public works official says crews have not collected recycling for the past two Mondays, due to the snow storm and Presidents Day.

They say pickups on every other day have been regular. On February 22, they'll have their hands full.

Harrisonburg Solid Waste Operations Superintendent Harsit Patel says crews have also missed a few bins, because they were hidden behind snow or put in places that were unsafe to access.

"We've had a lot of instances where people have put it behind a snow bank, or behind a vehicle, because the vehicles have been covered in snow. If they could put it in a location where our guys could get to it fairly easy that would make it a lot better for us," says Patel.
