Loudoun County lawmakers are considering a resolution on Tuesday that would restrict county services for illegal immigrants.

The resolution is sponsored by the six Republicans on Loudoun's nine-member Board of Supervisors. It is similar to one that was passed in Prince William County a week ago.

Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio says Loudoun County has to do something to discourage illegal immigrants from settling in the area. He says they are draining county resources and leading to an increase in crime.

Immigrant rights advocates have said that restricting services will inevitably lead to discrimination based on race and ethnicity.

And when did Mr. Delgaudio's ancestors get off the boat? Did they drain the resources of NYC or Philadelphia... or did they help build this country? The last time I looked at the Statue of Liberty, I could have sworn I saw a tear.
