Not only may Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick be in trouble with the law, he may also be in position to draw a penalty from the NFL.
A spokesman for the league says "we are disappointed" that Vick has put himself in a position where a federal grand jury has indicted him on charges of taking part in a dogfighting operation.
Brian McCarthy says the allegations in the indictment "are cruel, degrading and illegal." But he added that since the matter hasn't been proven in a court of law, everyone concerned should allow the legal process to continue.
Lately, the NFL has been cracking down strongly on players who run afoul of the law, even if their actions haven't resulted in convictions. Pacman Jones has been suspended for the entire season after a series of incidents in which he had to be questioned by police.

Unfortunately, Va Tech looked the other way when he was there. Let's hope the NFL does not do the same.
