The Atlanta Falcons under new coach Bobby Petrino won't have the centerpiece of their new offensive system when they open training camp next week.
Instead, Michael Vick will be in a federal courtroom in Virginia being arraigned on charges he sponsored a gruesome dog fighting operation on property he owns.
Vick and three co-defendants will be asked to enter pleas to the felony charges, and a date for the federal trial likely will be set during the arraignment. After that, Vick will probably be free to rejoin the Falcons as he awaits his day in court. And the league, it seems, is inclined to let him play.
Vick and three associates must appear in Richmond July 26 for bond hearings and arraignments on charges contained in a detailed, 18-page indictment handed up Tuesday.
The four are accused of competitive dog fighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting, and conducting the enterprise across state lines.
Conviction carries up to six years in prison, fines of $350,000 and restitution.

I think that Vick should be able to play because he brings excitment to the NFL and he puts people in their seats while making the NFL alot of money.
In a perfect world, people would listen to Vince from Pennsylvania!!!!
I believe that Vick should be able to play and hopefully well. If he does not perform well during the pre-season two fans should have the opportunity to whip him for 2 minutes each. If he does not perform well during a regular season game four fans should have the opportunity to whip him for 4 minutes each. If the Falcons fail to make the playoffs 6 fans should have the opportunity beat him with what ever weapon they chose. Let performance decide his fate as it decided the fate of those poor animals.
