A smoother, safer trip is what the Shenandoah Valley Airport is promising passengers.

Tuesday is the first day on the job for 10 federal screeners at the airport.

It's on of the first 100 airports to become federalized. The screeners have received 40 hours of training and they will receive 60 more.

That's four times more training than previous security officials. A local federal security director said these high security measures, even at the smallest of airports, should encourage the American public to fly.
