Staunton parents are trying to figure out the next step after hearing the decision to close Dixon Elementary School.

School Superintendent Dr. Steve Nichols said Tuesday his thoughts are on the district's upcoming budget.

Nichols says the timeline for closing Dixon will come after spring break.

Parents say they're now just waiting to find out more about classes, teachers and where their student will be this fall.

"It's disappointing, but I want my child to enter next year happy and be comfortable with the decision they've made. So I need to remain positive with the changes," says Janet Clifton, a Dixon Elementary parent.

Nichols tells us class sizes will not change very much.

He says the largest classes will be about 24 students, and that will be in the 4th and 5th grades.
