Researchers at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton are studying ways to reduce injuries sustained in helicopter crashes.

Engineers are using data from test crashes done at the facility to see how well a honeycomb-like, Kevlar cushion on a helicopter's undercarriage could be used to absorb most of the impact.

The tests, designed to simulate a severe but survivable crash, drop a helicopter 35 feet onto a concrete pad. Instruments inside measure 160 channels of data and test dummies.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
