Three Outback Steakhouse employees in Harrisonburg raised nearly $3,000 to help find a cure for childhood cancer and topped it off by shaving their hair off.
On Monday, Emily Galloway and two of her co-workers showed off their new do at work after donating their hair to Locks of Love.
On Sunday, the trio sat on stage in Centreville at a cancer awareness event as an audience watched their hair go from braided to cut to shaved.
Galloway, who initiated the idea to go bald, says she was inspired one day at work after serving the family of a cancer survivor. She then convinced her two friends to join the cause.
They bought wigs to wear to work but actually prefer not to wear one at all.
"That's the point of doing it is to grab attention and it's all for awareness to make a statement. So two girls walking around a restaurant with bald heads it's definitely going to make a statement but it feels amazing. I would do it all over again if I could, " says Galloway.
They actually decided to go through with the event March 8, only six days before they shaved their hair off.
