Harrisonburg Schools approved their budget for next year, and they were able to do it without laying off any teachers.

However, the city will lose some teachers to retirement.

Superintendent Don Ford says next year's budget will be $3 million less than the current budget. The school district will achieve those savings by cutting utilities costs and saving expenses at the Massanutten Technical Center.

Ford stresses that this budget is not final. It still depends on how much money comes through from the city and the state.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
