There is still no word on who killed the Lexington couple, but police have questioned 38-year-old Gary Huffman of Greenville. Huffman is the ex-boyfriend of Rhonda Chaplin. He already faces charges for the kidnapping and rape of Mrs. Chaplin back in February.

Residents of Raphine say they are concerned, but not afraid about the double homicide on Sunday morning.

"I was in shock you know," said resident Winfred Ramsey, "just thinking that anything like that could be that close to home just doesn't seem real."

Winfred Ramsey is a life long resident; he says the area has change. He use to keep his doors open and he knew who drove by his home by the way the car sounded, but all that has changed.

"In the last 10 years people have become more aware of people coming off the interstate," said Ramsey. "You just don't know who is riding up and down the road any more."

Others say they have a good community with great neighbors, but it was only a matter of time before something bad happen near this intersection.

"We have been living here for about 27 years and there has been some trouble down at that bridge off and on," said resident Gray Brooks. "I was not surprise that something happen."

Brooks says he had to change the way he lives, but he is not scared. He says he will do whatever he has to protect his family.

"We use to leave our doors unlock," said Brooks, "but now I lock them and I keep my gun loaded to. But I hope I never need to use it."
