Police Catch Just One DUI in Harrisonburg on St. Patrick's Day

More than 1,000 drivers passed through checkpoints during special St. Patrick's Day enforcement in Harrisonburg Wednesday.

More than 1,000 drivers passed through checkpoints during special St. Patrick's Day enforcement in Harrisonburg Wednesday.

Police found just one drunk driver, but they did issue citations for several other violations.

Dozens of drivers were found to be behind the wheel without their license. Several were also caught driving on suspended licenses.

Police also found 11 minors in possession of alcohol.

Twenty-five officers were involved in the operation.

Agreed. Those extra officers could have been spread out through the city and been more effective. With the technology we have today, five minutes after the first car passed through all the city knew. Check Points were wrong in Nazi Germany and they are wrong in the US.

If my tax dollars got 1 drunk driver off the road and possibly saved a life well spent!

Hundreds of man hours and OT pay to catch 1 DUI and a few suspended drivers. Nice to see my tax dollars spent wisely
