Three people were taken to the hospital following a head-on crash on High Street in Harrisonburg Friday.

Police say the crash between an SUV and a sedan occurred around 10:30 a.m. between New York and Maryland avenues.

Both southbound lanes of High Street were closed for a couple of hours.

Police say the Nissan sedan was heading north on High Street when it drifted into the right lane, clipped another vehicle and then drifted into southbound traffic.

The sedan hit a Dodge Durango.

The sedan driver and two people from the SUV were taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Police say none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening but one person is reportedly in serious condition.

Sixty-six-year-old Paul Sullivan of Bridgewater is charged with failure to maintain proper control of his vehicle.
