The Dave Matthews Band is one of four acts giving a free concert intended to promote healing at Virginia Tech.
The Virginia-based group will be joined by John Mayer, Lynchburg native Phil Vassar and NAS at the September 6 concert at Lane Stadium. Free tickets will be available to all current students, faculty and staff at Tech.
The concert was conceived as a way to help Tech move forward in the aftermath of the April 16 shootings that left 33 dead, including the gunman.
The university says performers have waived any payment for the concert. Corporate sponsorships and the sale of commemorative items will finance operating costs. No money from the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund will be used for concert expenses.
