You may think it's a bit too early for a pool party, but not for some teens in the area Saturday night.

It's a part of the E.D.G.E. program, a non-profit community based program that provides low cost, substance free events for teens in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area.

The teens enjoyed some snacks and swimming at the Westover indoor pool during their beach club pool party.

"It's important to have alternative activities for teens in our community so they're not engaging in high risk activities such as getting involved with gang activities, or drugs or alcohol, so it gives them something else to do," says Amanda Shomo, E.D.G.E. coordinator.

More than a dozen teens showed up to the event.

The E.D.G.E. program is hosting a decades themed dance at the Lucy Simms Center on April 9th.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
