There's good news for supporters of the Pilgrim's Pride plant in Hinton. The Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative has been approved for tax-exempt status. That news is a major boon for the Co-op. It means it can now accept financial contributions from groups like West Virginia growers.
The Co-op, right now, is focused on securing financing to purchase the Hinton turkey processing plant - something that it could not accomplish without the tax-exempt status. The group has until September 1st to acquire the plant from Pilgrim's Pride.
