Police in Waynesboro are on the lookout for what they call an Armed and Dangerous robber. He made two robbery attempts Saturday - got away with one.
Within just a few moments Saturday afternoon, police say two stores in Waynesboro were hit by the same armed robber. And they're asking for your help in catching him.
The first attempt happened just after 3pm at the Family Dollar on Hopeman Parkway. Police say the robber put a handgun in the face of a cashier and demanded cash from the register. When the cashier could not open the register drawer, the robber left on foot.
Police then say that less that ten minutes later, the same robber showed up more than a mile away at Frye's Market - at the corner of Hopeman Parkway and Delphine Avenue. He pulled out the gun again and ordered the store's owner and a customer to the ground. The robber took off with an unknown amount of money from the register and fled south, by foot, on Delphine Avenue.
Here's who police are looking for: a black man, average size, wearing a dark colored ski mask and red shirt. And he had a handgun. Police are considering him armed and dangerous. Police have received tips that he drove away on a motorcycle.
