The hard work and planning is paying off for two Valley communities. Governor Warner has announced that Harrisonburg and Luray have been selected as Main Street communities. This means the city and town have been recognized as being serious about their downtown revitalization.

State resources such as access to free architectural firms and seminars for shop owners will be available to assist them. "It means there is something special about our downtown that we are committed to downtown revitalization its something we can be proud of in the community and it also has meaning for visitors knowing that we have that designation," says Eddie Bumbaugh Executive Director of The Downtown Renaissance.

Also included in the deal, is a sign that identifies Harrisonburg as Main Street Community.
