Workers at the Subway and BP gas station just off Interstate 81 at the Weyers Cave exit say afternoons are usually pretty quiet. But not Tuesday.

Around 2:30, the parking lot was flooded by agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, along with Augusta County Sheriff's deputies.

They were serving a federal search warrant against a Weyers Cave man, for a possible firearms offense.

An ATF spokesman says they recovered firearms, plus some narcotics and some money. Witnesses say three men were taken into custody.

Also involved in the effort were the Virginia State Police, the Waynesboro Police Dept., and members of the Rush Drug Task Force.
