Snow will continue overnight through early afternoon Monday. The heaviest period of snow is expected between midnight and sunrise. Accumulations will be in the 2- 8" range with more possible in higher elevations. The Northern Valley should expect 2"-5"+ while the Southern Valley should expect 4"-8"+. Roads will become snow covered and slippery. Travel will become dangerous, especially overnight when temperatures are below freezing. Dangerous travel will continue through the morning commute Monday.
Thursday's steady rain didn't stop work from starting on some improvements at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport.
Crews started digging up the asphalt along a taxiway Thursday morning. It's the first phase of a $5.8-million renovation project.
The runway will also be repaved, but at night, so flight schedules won't be affected.
The project is being funded almost entirely by a grant from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation. It's expected to take four months to complete.
