A shooting early Friday morning sent a Harrisonburg man to the hospital and police are searching for three suspects in connection with the case.
The incident has left police and neighbors with a lot of unanswered questions, including why the suspects would call and notify people about what they'd done.
One man and his wife, the victim's neighbors, received an unusual call informing them of what went down.
"It was phone call from the person who actually done the shooting and he asked us to see what was going on and we told him that we didn't want anything to do with it anymore and that they needed to get away from here," says the husband.
When they looked out their back window, they saw flashing lights and police officers with guns drawn.
The man says, "There was tape running from that branch to the corner of my apartment. There was tape running from that branch to the corner of the other side of the building and then the tape went all the way to the front side of the house. Then I just seen cops with guns everywhere. There was mad cops."
Although they claim to know the suspects, the neighbors say they have nothing to do with what happened.
"They were associates with the people downstairs. We had gotten acquainted with them said hello, good bye to them. That's pretty much it," comments the man's wife.
Now they, as well as the police, hope who ever did this will soon be brought to justice.
The wife says, "My message to them would be do the right thing; turn yourself in."
The suspects have been described as three black men in their 20s who fled the scene. Since the investigation is ongoing, a lot of information has not been released.
