The president of the University of Virginia says there is a gap in the law when it comes to law enforcement agencies informing colleges and universities when students are arrested off campus.

He says he'll meet with Gov. Bob McDonnell to talk about a law that would help universities get information when students are accused of committing crimes.

In the Valley, Eastern Mennonite University officials say it's an issue they are talking about as well.

"There's no way that we're going to be able to find out about everything. If it's something done locally, we may see it in the newspapers, but if they're going out-of-state or somewhere else we may not hear about it," says Ken L. Nafziger, vice president for student life at EMU.

EMU administrators say getting information about these crimes could aid the school in getting help for students.
