The west end section of Waynesboro has exploded in recent years. New stores and traffic have popped up and in just a few months. Construction will be completed on the new town center.

Residents say they're feeling the growth all around them. Waynesboro Fire Chief Charles Scott agrees that response times would be better if a new fire station were added to the west end.

City Manager Doug Walker says the city council's vote on the issue reflects a desire to enhance the city.

Resident Linda Jones agrees that the station would be a welcome addition to the west end.
