The students get out of school at 3 p.m.. But some of the buses aren't getting students home until after 4 p.m.
School Superintendent Donald Ford says he believes the new high school schedule is mostly to blame.
"We just didn't anticipate that there would be this adverse effect on elementary schools when we changed the high school schedule. But I think it's also important to note that traffic gets heavier and heavier here in Harrisonburg," said Ford.
Dr. Ford says he is working to figure out the best solution as soon as possible. For now, high school and middle school students have been advised to get on the buses as quick as possible and transportation officials are looking into quicker routes.
