Dozens of Republican lawmakers will meet privately Monday night with House Speaker Vance Wilkins at the state capitol.
They will discuss the Speaker's political future in light of allegations Wilkins made unwanted sexual advances to two women.
A 26-year-old woman was reportedly paid $100,000 in an out-of-court settlement. And an Amherst woman who says Wilkins rubbed her leg at a Christmas party last year.
Wilkins has come under increasing pressure to answer the allegations.
"I've been a supporter of the Speaker he's done a lot for me I would consider us friends, but I'm going to be like a lot of folks, I'm going to hear his side of the story tonight," Del. Steve Landes says.
Landes says if the accusations are true he thinks the house will take appropriate action. That could include asking Wilkins to step down, voting him out or him choosing to resign.
The decision will be made at a future meeting.
