A preservation group says the Booker T. Washington National Monument in Virginia is being threatened by development.
The Friends of Booker T. Washington National Memorial is working to try to halt potential development around the 225-acre park in Hardy.
The group has enlisted the help of Rep. Tom Perriello to protect the park by expanding its boundaries. Perriello has introduced a bill that would allow the National Park Service to buy 67.5 acres of commercially zoned property east of the park.
