About a dozen dog advocacy groups are asking a federal judge to send Micheal Vick to prison for nearly five years when the quarterback is sentenced on a dogfighting conspiracy charge.
The group filed a motion in federal court Thursday also asking U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson to turn the property Vick and others used for dogfighting into a shelter for abused dogs and to require Vick do pay more than $10 million to rehabilitate the pit bulls seized from his property.
The group includes animal rescue organizations and the National American Pit Bull Terrier Association.
Vick pleaded guilty last month to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge, and prosecutors called for a sentence of between 12 and 18 months. But Hudson can impose up to the five-year maximum.
Vick is scheduled to be sentenced on December 10.
