Officials from the Wildlife Center of Virginia say many of the wild animals they house are having a tough time dealing with the heat.

Dehydration is their biggest concern, and many of the animals are getting fluid therapy to fight the heat.

Dr. Dave McRuer, from the Wildlife Center, says, "Once they are rehydrated again, very much like people when they get heat stroke, they get headaches and such. These animals can't tell us they have a headache, but they are acting quite depressed."

The shade from the woods has helped some of the outdoor animals like hawks and eagles.

Workers have had to put off some of the routine exercises they do with the birds until the temperatures cool down.
