Virginia regulators will hold hearings this fall to consider rate increases to help Dominion Virginia Power cover the costs of two power stations that are under construction.
On Tuesdsay, the State Corporation Commission set hearings for Dominion's request related to its Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center in Wise County and the Bear Garden Power Station in Buckingham County.
The Richmond-based utility company is asking regulators to increase monthly bills by $1.39 for an average residential customer starting next April.
Once complete, Dominion says the stations will power more than 291,000 homes. Bear Garden is scheduled to begin operating in May 2011 and Virginia City in July 2012.
State regulators will hold hearings on the rate changes November 9 and December 1.
