A grand jury has indicted a Stephens City man on charges of raping a 22-month-old girl.
Twenty-year-old Robert Kirby was indicted Thursday by a Frederick County grand jury. He faces several other charges, including abuse and neglect of a child, malicious wounding of a child and failing to register on the Virginia State Police's sex offender registry.
Kirby, a convicted sex offender in Baltimore, is accused of forcing sex on the child as he babysat her on June 18. The Maryland sex offense involved a 12-year-old girl.
The child's mother said in a hearing last month that Kirby was dating her sister and they all lived together with their grandmother in Stephens City.
Kirby is being held without bond, and his trial is set for Dec. 13.
