Arizona's new immigration law is in place without many of its key parts.

A federal judge shelved parts of the law Wednesday, including a portion that would have allowed officers to make warrantless arrests of illegal immigrants.

In the Commonwealth of Virginia, a similar immigration policy has been in place for three years. Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart crafted the Prince William County Immigration Policy.

He says 80 percent of his residents approve of the law. He also says Prince William County's violent crime rate has dropped 37 percent since the law went into effect.

A combination of the Arizona Immigration Law and the Prince William County Policy could be what Virginia's immigration law may look like.

State delegates from the Valley, Dels. Dickie Bell (R-20th) and Steve Landes (R-25th), say there will be legislation proposed in the next General Assembly session.

Bell says his constituents overwhelmingly support the Arizona immigration law. He says they believe Virginia is in need of a similar law.

Bell expects legislation to be proposed in the 2011 General Assembly and he thinks it will clear the House of Delegates.

Landes agrees that legislation will be proposed. He says he hopes to do something similar to what Prince William County has done.

Landes says there are several delegates looking at legislation for the session that would similar to what Arizona has implemented. However, he says Virginia's law would be based on the experience Prince William County has had.

Bell and Landes agree that the proposed legislation will pass the Virginia House of Delegates but the Senate is a different story.

In the past, the Senate has turned down similar proposals. However, this year could be different.

Landes says the Senate tends to be more responsive when there is an election. Since 2011 is an election year for the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate, he hopes Virginia will see a change this upcoming year.

Newly-elected Del Tony Wilt (R-26th) says, "Illegal is illegal. I'm thoroughly disappointed the federal government refuses to uphold one of its core responsibilities, and that is to protect the sovereignty of our nation. I would most certainly support legislation proposed to address this most crucial issue."

Bell, Landes and Wilt say there is a strong need for an immigration law in Virginia.

Landes states, "The whole part of this is they are not here legally. The law is pretty clear from a federal stand point. If you do not have documentation, or follow the proper procudure, you are not here legally."

Bell says, "We're all immigrants. There are legal ways to come to the United States and I think everybody is welcoming of that but illegal immigration continues to grow and expand and become a problem for a lot of states."

Wilt writes, "During my campaign, many people expressed concern about the influences that illegal immigration is having on our society."

Supporters say the economy will improve and crime will drop with an immigration law similar to the policies of Arizona and Prince William County.

Bell, Landes, Wilt and other elected officials in Virginia got Stewart's "model legislation" Thursday. It's called the Virginia Rule of Law, which Stewart says is the future for Virginia's Immigration Law.

Did you know that crossing the border without the proper documentation is in the same category of felonies as loitering. This means that this is as bad as staying at the McDonald's parking lot without being a costumer. yet is pushed WAY more severe.

Let me get it straight. First of all, Immigrants does not equal Latinos. Do you all know that we have undocummented people in the U.S from all over the world? Yes the Latinos make up for the majority of them all. Here in VA, we have so many undocumented people from the Russia, the Middle East, Eaurop awaiting for legal residency process. The difference with this people and the Lations is that they can come to this country and claim they are here because of persecution (most claim Christian persecution) or needing asylum and they easily can get a green card; the law protects them. Even if they are lying. And that is how we have ended up with terrorist with American citizenships, because the US has granted them open arms to stay here and become citizen almost automatically. Now Latinos have it really hard. Most of them are hard working individuals who are running away from poverty to a land of opportunities and cannot get legalized because the US has made virtually impossible for them.

Ken--CRIMINALS do not even try to get Visa! they stay in the latino countries in the border to still money and kill people...so honney they are not criminals the ones that come MOjados" are the poorpeople that cant affort their self in their country. Now about this law that they want to place in VA, i understand how North Americans fell about latinos being in their countries..;I would feel the same if they were in my country doing the same thing. But not all are bad..is jsut a few that need to learn English and learn to live clean and not like were they come from. What I hate is that this Latinos are making their countries look bad because this is poor people that come to usa...I am a resident of United Stated... I came legally to this country with visa..but fellows there is no way to fix peapers coming with visa...I had to go trough a lot of things...I was an imigrant and look at me now i am a Resident...I have a well good fam. in my country so anytime i can leave if i like to..
