The DuPont Co. says it is building a production facility in Virginia that will use new technology to improve the performance of batteries used in electric and hybrid vehicles.

The Delaware-based company said Tuesday that the facility in Chesterfield County, Virginia will begin production early next year and will produce separators that can increase the performance and safety of lithium ion batteries.

The company said its Energain battery separators can increase power 15 to 30 percent, increase battery life by up to 20 percent and improve battery safety by providing stability at high temperatures.

The company did not say how many people the facility would employ.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
