UPDATE: Interstate Crash Involves Four Vehicles Saturday Afternoon

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- UPDATE: 3/15/2014 7:00 p.m.: No major injuries were reported in the crash that shut down I-81 north near Staunton Saturday afternoon.

The crash involved four vehicles. Virginia State Police say a truck pulling a box trailer began to slow due to traffic related to another unrelated accident on the interstate ahead. Upon hitting the brakes, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle. That led to a chain reaction that involved three other vehicles around the truck.

The driver of that truck and trailer is charged with reckless driving. The interstate is open in this area again.

UPDATE: 3/15/2014 4:00 p.m.: Traffic appears to be moving again in the area of the accident that had been causing delays.

An accident is delaying drivers on Interstate 81 near Staunton.

According to Virginia 511, on I-81 at mile marker 222 in the County of Augusta, motorists can expect potential delays due to a vehicle accident.

The north left shoulder, left lane, and right lane are closed.
