NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Randy Taylor, the man charged with murdering Nelson County Teen Alexis Murphy, is expected to stand trial beginning Thursday.

It's been exactly nine months since 17-year-old Alexis Murphy was last seen. Murphy's family describe those nine months as a nightmare. They say they are ready for Randy Taylor to face justice.

"We're ready for it," says Alexis' aunt Trina Murphy. "We're ready to get this started and to be over this phase of this nightmare that we are living for the last nine months."

Taylor was originally charged with abduction. Several months later and still no body being found, those charges were upgraded to murder.
Trina Murphy says the next two weeks, as Taylor is tried on murder charges, will be some of the hardest days of her life.

"We're just reigning in the circle, pulling the family circle tighter and supporting each other, when one of us is strong the other one is weak and vice versa so we're just trying to maintain."

Trina Murphy says several other family members, including Alexis' mother have been subpoenaed as witnesses.

But she says even if Taylor is found guilty, that will never bring closure to her family.

"It's bittersweet because we still don't have her, so, yes, we want justice to be served but it's not going to bring any closure to our family."
