RICHMOND (WRIC) - Police believe the missing D.C. child involved with an Amber Alert Thursday may be in the Richmond area.
8-year-old Relisha Rudd hasn't been seen since February 26 when a friend of the family picked her up.
According to our ABC affiliate WJLA in Washington, police started searching for the child after a school counselor reported that Relisha had missed several weeks of school.
Since family members last saw the child with family friend Kahlil Tatum, police started searching for him. Tatum is reportedly the child's godfather and the janitor at the homeless shelter where Relisha and her mother live. They found cars linked to the case at While searching for the girl, the Prince George’s County Police Department discovered the body of an adult female at the Red Roof Inn Washington DC – Oxon Hill at 6170 Oxon Hill Road the morning of March 20. Police believe she is the wife of Tatum. WJLA reports that D.C. Police advised Prince George’s County Police to check the motel because of a possible link to Rudd’s case.
Police won't say why, but they believe Tatum and Relisha might be in Richmond.
Relisha is four feet tall and weighs about 70 to 80 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.
Rudd may be traveling with Kahlil Malik Tatum and Rickie Sheridan Lyles in a white 1976 GMC truck with Maryland tags 305015.
