STAUNTON -- Imagine racing boats made out of plywood, and not much else. Would they sink, or would they swim?
The question was answered today at the plywood boat regatta at Gypsy Hill Park. Boaters raced boats made out of two 2x4s, a sheeet of plywood, a roll of duct tape and one pound of screws or nails.
None of the boats capsized - during the race, at least.
One of the captains was seven-year-old Cody Harris. After the race he shared the secret to his success.
"Because my muscles," he said. "Actually I worked out last night and this morning."
Harris won the award for youngest and greatest captain, and tied for best design. He said now he wants to go kayaking in his boat.
