Annual Bridge Day Festival Held in Staunton

STAUNTON, Va. - The Second Annual Bridge Day Festival took place in downtown Staunton Saturday.

Four years ago, the Sears Hill bridge was set to be demolished, however, people from the community stopped that from happening through restoration efforts.

People at the event say the bridge is an important part of the area.

"It's just great to come out and enjoy a beautiful day, the entertainment that's here and just the fellowship of folks that are in town and celebrate this great structure that's been able to be maintained," says John Hartless, who lives in Staunton.

The bridge's website says the restoration of the bridge cost about $200,000.
